Oben Electric to Launch Next Gen Rorr EZ Motorcycle on August 5

Oben Electric announced it will launch an updated version of its Rorr EZ electric motorcycle on August 5, 2025. The Bangalore-based company plans to open bookings on the launch date and begin deliveries on August 15.

The next-generation Rorr EZ features what the company describes as upgraded technology and rider-focused improvements while maintaining the original model's commuter-oriented design.

The motorcycle will continue to use Oben's lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology, which the company states offers improved heat resistance and extended lifespan compared to other battery types.

The current Rorr EZ, launched in November 2024, provides a range of up to 175 kilometers on a single charge according to Indian Driving Cycle standards.

The motorcycle can charge to 80% capacity in 45 minutes and reaches a top speed of 95 kilometers per hour. These specifications target daily commuters seeking an alternative to traditional motorcycles.

Oben Electric was founded in August 2020 and focuses on developing electric motorcycles and components in India. The company holds more than 25 patents for its technology and positions itself as an early participant in India's electric motorcycle market. India represents the world's largest motorcycle market by volume.

The electric two-wheeler segment in India has seen increased activity as manufacturers introduce alternatives to conventional motorcycles. Oben Electric's approach centers on performance-oriented electric motorcycles rather than lower-speed electric scooters that dominate much of the current market.

The company develops its battery technology and other components internally rather than sourcing from external suppliers. This approach allows for customization specific to Indian riding conditions, including varied temperatures and road conditions across different regions.

Electric motorcycle adoption in India remains limited compared to electric scooters, with factors including charging infrastructure and price sensitivity influencing consumer decisions.

Companies like Oben Electric are working to address these challenges through improved battery technology and targeted marketing to specific user segments.

The updated Rorr EZ represents Oben Electric's effort to refine its initial motorcycle design based on market feedback and technological developments since the original launch. The company has not disclosed specific changes or pricing for the new version ahead of the August 5 announcement.
