Nissan has revealed a lineup of new and updated vehicles at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, headlined by an all-new Elgrand minivan and confirmation that the Patrol SUV will launch in the Japanese market for the first time in nearly two decades.
The announcements form part of Nissan's Re:Nissan strategy, which aims to strengthen the company's position in its domestic market through product innovation and expanded segment coverage.
The all-new Elgrand, scheduled for launch in summer 2026, represents the fourth generation of Nissan's premium minivan. The vehicle will be powered exclusively by the company's third-generation e-POWER hybrid system, which combines a newly developed engine with a modular electric powertrain.
The Elgrand will debut Nissan's updated e-4ORCE electric four-wheel drive system, designed to improve handling and stability. The system uses rear motor torque to reduce vehicle pitching during acceleration and deceleration, aiming to provide a smoother ride for passengers.
Interior features include zero-gravity captain's chairs in the second row, dual 14.3-inch integrated displays, and optional 22-speaker Bose audio. The vehicle will offer ProPILOT driver assistance technology, including a version supporting hands-off operation below 50 km/h and ProPILOT 2.0 with hands-free highway driving capability.
The exterior design follows Nissan's "Timeless Japanese Futurism" language, incorporating elements inspired by traditional Japanese craftsmanship, including a grille motif based on the Kumiko pattern.
Nissan confirmed the Patrol SUV will be introduced to the Japanese market in the first half of fiscal year 2027. The move marks Nissan's return to the premium SUV segment in Japan, where it last competed with the Safari model until production ended in 2007.
CEO Ivan Espinosa stated that a strong Japanese market is important for Nissan's global success, noting the company's commitment to offering vehicles ranging from the compact Roox to flagship models.
The refreshed Ariya electric crossover, set to arrive in Japan later this fiscal year, features exterior refinements, Google-powered infotainment, Vehicle-to-Load functionality, and suspension improvements designed to enhance ride comfort.
The updated model aligns with Nissan's broader push into electric mobility, following the recent launch of the all-new LEAF and supporting the company's Nissan Energy initiatives focused on energy management and sustainability.
