Nissan Motor India has struck a deal with Spinny, India's largest used car platform, in what the companies say is the first partnership between an automobile manufacturer and a national used car aggregator. The collaboration will make Spinny the preferred vehicle exchange partner across Nissan's dealership network, offering customers enhanced exchange benefits when purchasing new Nissan vehicles.
Under the arrangement announced on September 4th, customers who exchange their vehicles through Spinny will receive exclusive benefits on new Nissan purchases. The partnership eliminates paperwork requirements by accepting Spinny's "Buying Letter" as valid proof of exchange, removing the need for transferred registration documentation.
Moreover, Spinny will deploy vehicle evaluation teams at Nissan dealerships based on customer demand and scheduled appointments. This operational integration aims to streamline vehicle assessments while providing dealers with additional channels to liquidate used car inventory and generate leads through joint marketing campaigns.
The partnership extends beyond physical dealerships, with Spinny featuring Nissan's exchange offers across its digital platforms while Nissan incorporates Spinny branding into its promotional campaigns. This cross-platform marketing strategy represents a shift toward deeper collaboration between traditional manufacturers and digital platforms in India's automotive sector.
The partnership comes as Nissan seeks to leverage the success of its Magnite SUV, which recently received a five-star safety rating from Global NCAP and is now sold in over 65 countries. The company launched the Magnite KURO Special Edition in October 2024, priced from INR 8.30 lakhs, as part of efforts to strengthen its position in India's compact SUV segment.
Saurabh Vatsa, managing director of Nissan Motor India, described the collaboration as part of the company's strategy to create value for customers and dealer partners through innovative solutions. Niraj Singh, founder and chief executive of Spinny, said the partnership represents another step toward redefining car ownership and upgrades in India.
The deal reflects the growing importance of used car platforms in India's automotive ecosystem, where manufacturers are increasingly seeking partnerships with digital aggregators to enhance customer experience and expand their reach in the world's third-largest car market.
