Nissan has officially named its upcoming C-segment SUV Tekton, as the Japanese carmaker gears up for its most important launch in India in recent years. Set to go on sale by mid-2026, the Tekton will be a global model and is based on the same platform as the India bound new-generation Renault Duster.
Nissan says the Tekton’s design draws heavy inspiration from the brand’s flagship Patrol SUV. Inputs from Nissan design teams spread across the globe, including India, Japan and the UK were collected before finalising the SUV's looks.
The front end is characterised by a striking C-shaped LED daytime running light signature that wraps around the SUV’s horizontally positioned LED headlamps and runs across its width, merging neatly on either side. This light bar is accentuated by twin chrome slats and a bold Nissan logo at the centre.
While Nissan has yet to reveal the Tekton’s cabin in full, it is expected to share its overall layout with the new Renault Duster, though with unique materials, chrome highlights and trim finishes to give it a more upmarket identity. The top-spec variants are expected to get a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, rear AC vents, automatic climate control and multiple drive modes. Nissan has confirmed that the Tekton will share its infotainment hardware with the Duster but will feature brand-specific software and UI design.
Safety features are likely to include up to six airbags and a host of driver aids, though it remains to be seen if ADAS tech, offered on the international Duster, will make it to the India-spec Tekton.
We can confirm that powering the SUV will be a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 154hp and 250Nm, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Nissan has yet to confirm if a manual gearbox or AWD variant will be offered at launch.
A 7-seat version of the Tekton is also in the pipeline, expected to arrive by the end of FY2026, alongside its Renault-badged sibling. With the Tekton, Nissan is looking to re-establish itself in the hotly contested Creta–Seltos–Grand Vitara segment, while also signalling the start of a new product offensive for India.
