Nippon Paint participated in SMARTCOR 2026, the first International Conference on Materials for Corrosion Resistance and Smart Control, held on July 10-11 at the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology in Bhubaneswar. The conference brought together researchers, industry representatives and technology leaders to discuss corrosion-resistant materials and smart control technologies.
Representing the company, Subash Gaijes Selvaraj, President - Industrial Coatings at Nippon Paint India, delivered a technical presentation titled "High-Performance Coil Coating Solutions for Pre-painted Steel," addressing the role of coating technologies in improving durability, corrosion protection, weather resistance and lifecycle performance.
The presentation covered the company's research and development capabilities and exposure testing across different climatic conditions. It also referenced fluoropolymer technologies, high-performance primer systems and sustainable coating options, including low-VOC and lead- and chromate-free coatings, along with cool-roof and energy-efficient coating systems.
Speaking at the conference, Selvaraj said industrial coatings had moved beyond surface protection to become factors in asset performance and sustainability, and that the company aimed to develop coating solutions suited to India's infrastructure and manufacturing sectors.
Selvaraj also took part in a panel discussion titled "Rust, Risk and Resolution: Advanced Practices in Industrial Corrosion Management," where industry participants discussed technologies and practices for asset protection and lifecycle performance.
The Industrial Coatings business, part of Nippon Paint India, supplies coating solutions for automotive, coil, protective, general industrial, CED, CAN and specialty applications. The business, which draws on Japanese technology and local manufacturing, is backed by the NIPSEA Group.
