New Renault Duster Earns 5-Star BNCAP Safety Rating

Renault India announced that the new Duster SUV has received a five star safety rating from the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP). The top safety certification is applicable across the entire variant range of the vehicle.

In the crash test evaluations, the new Duster achieved a score of 30.49 out of a possible 32 points for adult occupant protection. For child occupant protection, the vehicle scored 45 out of 49 points. The BNCAP rating is based on testing conducted on three specific configurations: the EVOLUTION Turbo 160 MT, the TECHNO Turbo 160 DCT, and the ICONIC Turbo 160 MT.

The SUV is built on the RGMP platform. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, an electronic stability program, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat anchors, three point seat belts for all passengers and seat belt reminders for all occupants.

Alongside the standard safety equipment, the Duster incorporates 17 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This active safety suite features autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and blind spot detection.

Dr. V Vikraman, Chief of Renault Engineering in India, stated that the vehicle underwent physical crash tests, extensive simulations, and system level validations tailored to Indian driving conditions prior to achieving the certification.
