Neuron Energy, a Mumbai-based EV battery manufacturer, on Wednesday announced its entry into grid-scale energy storage with the commissioning of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra, backed by a ₹100 crore capital expenditure, targeting solar developers, commercial and industrial customers, and utilities in domestic and export markets.

Spread across 7 acres, the fully automated, robotic plant is designed to produce containerised BESS units with an annual capacity of 5 GWh and up to 1,000 units per year. The modular systems are intended for deployment across solar and grid infrastructure for storing surplus energy and dispatching it during demand peaks.

Commenting on the announcement, Pratik Kamdar, Co-founder & CEO, Neuron Energy, said: "Our entry into the grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems segment is a natural extension of our journey in advanced energy solutions. As renewable energy adoption accelerates in India, reliable and scalable storage infrastructure will become critical to strengthening the power ecosystem. Our upcoming BESS facility in Talegaon reflects this vision — enabling us to build high-performance, large-format energy storage solutions for both domestic and global markets."

The facility is expected to generate over 500 direct and indirect jobs across engineering, manufacturing, system integration, and technical services. Neuron Energy's target business mix is 60% domestic and 40% exports.

The company said it plans to expand its energy storage portfolio further, leveraging existing battery technology expertise built around its EV mobility business.
