Motul India announced the introduction of the French premium lubricant brand IPONE to the domestic market on May 13, 2026. The brand, which exclusively produces motorcycle engine oils, is positioned to target a growing demographic of younger riders focused on performance and adventure riding.
The product portfolio utilizes an architecture inspired by the judo belt progression system to categorize its oils based on riding intensity. The premium tier, designated as the Black Belt or Racing range, features the flagship Shogun product which is currently utilized in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. The Blue Belt tier offers fully synthetic oils for sport applications, while the Green Belt range consists of semi synthetic formulations for everyday usage. The entry level Yellow Belt tier provides standard oils at an accessible price point.
Milind Acharya, Chief Marketing Officer at Motul India and South Asia, stated that the new formulations combine polyalphaolefin and ester based lubrication technologies. He noted that the visual belt system is designed to simplify lubricant selection for consumers. The company plans to launch the IPONE brand initially across six core and fourteen key markets, supported by its existing offline and online distribution networks.
