Samvardhana Motherson International, through its Singapore-based subsidiary MSSL (S), has entered into a R&D collaboration with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore to industrialize a magnetic induction coating technology for manufacturing operations.

Termed as Spinheat, the technology uses magnetic nanoparticles embedded within adhesives and resins to cure industrial coatings directly under an alternating magnetic field. The process aims to reduce curing times while lowering energy consumption compared to conventional thermal oven methods.

Developed by researchers at NTU's School of Materials Science and Engineering, early laboratory testing indicates that the Spinheat approach achieves bonding strength comparable to a standard 24-hour oven-curing process in approximately one hour.

"Partnering with NTU Singapore and using Motherson's proprietary SVAG E3 methodology, we are excited to bring cutting-edge material science into real manufacturing environments and explore possibilities that can make our processes faster, cleaner, and more efficient," said Dhruv Mehra, Director, Motherson Singapore.
