Motherson and Adani Ports Partner on RoRo Terminal at Dighi Port
Joint venture to establish dedicated vehicle logistics facility with 200,000-car annual capacity in Maharashtra
Motherson has entered into a partnership with Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) to develop a Roll-on/Roll-off terminal at Dighi Port in Maharashtra, the companies announced on December 5, 2025.
The agreement, signed through Motherson's joint venture Samvardhana Motherson Hamakyorex Engineered Logistics Limited (SAMRX), will establish a dedicated terminal for handling finished vehicle logistics on India's west coast.
SAMRX plans to invest in the terminal through a phased approach, targeting an annual handling capacity of approximately 200,000 vehicles with potential for expansion. The facility will offer services including yard management, AI-based Pre-Delivery Inspection technologies, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, customs clearance, and stevedoring operations.
The terminal's location at Dighi Port provides multimodal connectivity for both vehicle export and import operations, positioning it as a strategic hub for automotive original equipment manufacturers.
Arjun Kochhar, CEO of Motherson Logistics Solutions Division, said the partnership represents a significant advancement in providing integrated logistics solutions to the automotive industry. He noted the terminal would enhance service capabilities while creating a strategic asset to improve efficiency and reduce logistics costs for OEM partners.
Ashwani Gupta, CEO and Whole-time Director at APSEZ, described the partnership as a step toward redefining automotive logistics in India by combining APSEZ's infrastructure capabilities with Motherson's expertise.
Dighi Port Limited, a subsidiary of APSEZ, operates as a strategic port facility on India's west coast. APSEZ currently handles approximately 28 percent of India's total port volumes with a cargo handling capacity of 633 million tonnes per annum.
Motherson Group operates 425 facilities across 44 countries with over 200,000 employees and recorded revenues of $21.2 billion in 2024-25. The company ranks among the top 15 automotive suppliers globally.
