M&M tractor domestic tractor sales down 11 percent at 42,034 units

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has seen a 11 percent decrease in domestic tractor sales to 42,034 units in September 2023, the company reported on Sunday. The company sold 47,100 units in the same month last year, M&M said in a statement.

The company's total tractor sales were at 43,210 units last month, as against 48,713 in September last year, a dip of 11 percent, it added.

According to Hemant Sikka, President - Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, smart recovery in Kharif sowing with more than 110 million hectares and the start of festive fervour is expected to bring positive sentiments among the farmers. "Normal rains in September have helped overall monsoon to achieve near normal levels and this will help in Rabi sowing, especially in Central, Northern and Western regions of the country," he added.

In the export market, the company sold 1,176 tractors last month as compared to 1,613 last month, a drop of 27 percent.
