M&M Clocks ₹50,000 Crore in Premium SUVs as XUV 7XO Debuts

Having been the fastest to ₹50,000 crore in revenue in the premium SUV space, Mahindra & Mahindra plans to “reset” the premium SUV segment with the all-new XUV 7XO by raising the bar in the C-SUV segment.

The launch of the premium SUV comes close on the heels of Mahindra & Mahindra climbing to the number two position in the highly competitive Indian passenger vehicle market, marching ahead of South Korean auto major Hyundai Motor India and homegrown rival Tata Motors.

Unveiling the all-new 7XO in Jaisalmer on Monday, R Velusamy, President of Mahindra & Mahindra’s automotive business, said champions don’t rest, they reset—and that is what the company intends to do with the all-new XUV 7XO.

“This is the fastest SUV to clock ₹50,000 crore in revenues. Admired, loved, and celebrated,” he told media persons.

Velusamy highlighted that the UV2 segment has dramatically outperformed since the launch of the XUV 700 in 2020. Between FY15 and FY19, the category grew by just 1.1 percent, and even in a best-case scenario, it was expected to reach only around 2.1 percent. The inflection came with the introduction of the XUV brand, which reshaped demand dynamics in the segment.

“Since then, the UV2 category has delivered a 29 percent CAGR, while the mainstream SUV segment has grown at a 23 percent CAGR, underlining the strength of the shift toward mid-size premium SUVs.

“The growth has been backed not just by volumes but also by broad-based validation, with the product winning multiple awards, helping the business scale to ₹50,000 crore in revenue, led by strong customer traction alongside a positive response from dealers, analysts, and investors,” he added.

Mahindra & Mahindra closed calendar year 2025 with retail sales of over 6 lakh units, registering 20 percent growth and adding close to 1 lakh units in just one year.
