Minda Corporation Forms Joint Venture with Japan's Toyodenso for Automotive Switches

Minda Corporation Limited has entered into a joint venture agreement with Japan-based Toyodenso Co. to manufacture automotive switches for the Indian market. The partnership establishes a 60:40 shareholding arrangement, with Minda Corporation holding the majority stake.

The joint venture will focus on design, development, manufacturing and marketing of automotive switches for two-wheelers, passenger cars and other automotive segments in India. A greenfield manufacturing plant will be established in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with operations expected to begin in the second half of fiscal year 2026-27.

The new venture has already secured orders from Indian customers, according to the announcement made on June 11, 2025. The partnership aims to address increasing demand for automotive switches in India's growing automotive sector.

Under the collaboration, Toyodenso will contribute technological expertise and engineering capabilities, while Minda Corporation will provide manufacturing experience and supply chain infrastructure. The arrangement aligns with India's automotive industry trend toward localization of components and technologies.

Ashok Minda, Chairman and Group CEO of Minda Corporation, described the partnership as a milestone in developing smart mobility solutions while promoting domestic manufacturing. Kiyoshi Koide, President of Toyodenso, stated the collaboration would help develop the Indian market for automotive parts manufacturing and sales.

Minda Corporation, incorporated in 1985, operates as the flagship company of Spark Minda Group with manufacturing facilities across India and international markets. The company produces vehicle access systems, electrical distribution systems, die casting products and automotive electronics for original equipment manufacturers serving two-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles.

Toyodenso, established in 1947 and headquartered in Tokyo, manufactures automotive, motorcycle and power products. The company operates facilities in the United States, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Germany, employing over 9,000 people. With annual sales exceeding 100 billion yen, Toyodenso supplies electrical components to major automotive manufacturers including Honda, Toyota, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki.

The joint venture represents Minda Corporation's strategy to expand its product portfolio through partnerships with international technology providers.
