MG Windsor Pro Sees ₹60,000 Price Increase Within Three Days of Launch

MG Windsor Pro Sees ₹60,000 Price Increase Within Three Days of Launch

The introductory price of the recently launched MG Windsor Pro ended in just three days after the electric crossover was launched on May 6. The MG Windsor Pro is now priced at Rs 18.60 lakh (ex-showroom, India), which means prices have already gone up by Rs 60,000. The introductory price was applicable just for the first 8,000 bookings, and MG has now announced that it has already amassed the same since bookings officially commenced on May 8.

Prices for the BaaS with the Windsor Pro now start at Rs 13.09 lakh, plus Rs 4.5 per km. Earlier, it was priced from Rs 12.50 lakh at the same per-kilometre rate.

What’s new with the MG Windsor Pro?
Larger battery, more features

The new Windsor Pro is essentially the range-topping variant in the Windsor line-up that comes with a larger 52.9kWh battery, taking claimed range up to 449km (ARAI-certified), up from the 332km claimed range with the 38kWh battery available on the other trims. Like the regular Windsor, the Pro is also powered by the 136hp, 200Nm front-axle-mounted electric motor.

The MG Windsor Pro also packs in some additional equipment over the regular Windsor. This includes a powered tailgate, vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, and an ADAS suite that brings features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, front collision warning and intelligent headlamp control.

The Windsor Pro also gets a new dual-tone ivory-black seat upholstery as opposed to the all-black upholstery on the regular Windsor. There are also three new colour options – Celadon Blue, Aurora Silver, and Glaze Red – with the Windsor Pro.

That the Windsor has amassed 8,000 bookings in just 24 hours is not a surprise. It was already India’s bestselling EV this year, even with its smaller battery and limited range compared to rivals. The larger battery and additional features certainly improve the value proposition. Prior to the launch of the Pro variant, the Windsor had been averaging sales of more than 2,700 units a month, outselling the Tata Nexon EV.
