MG Windsor Crosses 20,000 Unit Sales in Six Months

JSW MG Motor India announced that the MG Windsor has reached a sales milestone of 20,000 units within six months of its launch. This achievement makes it the fastest-selling electric vehicle (EV) model in India to cross this figure, based on wholesale figures. The Windsor has recorded consistent sales across metropolitan areas and emerging markets.

Rakesh Sen, Director – Sales & Marketing, JSW MG Motor India, stated that the Windsor has attracted customers with its design, technology features, interior space, and overall driving experience. He added that the vehicle's market performance suggests that it has helped address certain concerns related to EVs, encouraging more people to consider electric mobility.

The MG Windsor, positioned as India’s first intelligent crossover utility vehicle (CUV), is offered at a starting Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) price of ₹9.99 lakh along with an energy usage cost of ₹3.9 per kilometre. The vehicle combines elements of a sedan and SUV, and is equipped with a 38 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that delivers 100 kW (136 ps) of power and 200 Nm of torque. It offers an ARAI-certified range of 332 kilometres on a single charge.

The Windsor features what MG terms an ‘AeroGlide’ design language. Inside, the car is fitted with seats that recline up to 135 degrees, and includes a 15.6-inch central touch display intended to enhance the user interface.

JSW MG Motor India Pvt. Ltd. is a joint venture formed in 2023 between SAIC Motor, a global Fortune 500 company with operations in over 100 countries, and the JSW Group, an Indian conglomerate with interests in both B2B and B2C sectors. The joint venture aims to develop a localized and technologically advanced automotive ecosystem in India, with a focus on manufacturing and product development.

Morris Garages, established in the United Kingdom in 1924, is known for its legacy of sports cars and classic vehicles. Over the years, it has developed into a global brand with a focus on connected, autonomous, shared, and electric (CASE) mobility. MG’s manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat, has an annual production capacity of over 100,000 vehicles and employs around 6,000 people. MG has introduced several products in India including the Hector, ZS EV, Gloster, Astor, Comet, and most recently, the Windsor.
