MG Automotives Bus & Coach, a prominent player in the Indian automotive bus coach industry, issued a public notice on Thursday, raising serious concerns about the alleged infringement of its coach designs. The notice highlighted that competitors, seemingly encouraged by their customers, have unlawfully replicated MG Automotives' distinctive features, configurations, and aesthetic elements in its own coach designs.

Specifically, the notice pointed out instances of infringement on three of MG Automotives' highly acclaimed coach models: the Leera, Glider, and Prizm.

In response to these unwarranted actions, MG Automotives has threatened legal action, demanding that competitors immediately cease the wrongful promotion, distribution, and sales of these infringing coaches. Furthermore, the company seeks compensation for any damages or losses incurred as a result of these infringements. Emphasising the significance of safeguarding their coach designs and proprietary information, the notice stated, "The protection of our coach designs and our proprietary information is paramount and critical to us."

Despite attempts to reach out for comment, an email sent to MG Automotives remained unanswered at the time of publication. Any response from the company will be promptly updated.

MG Automotives, which boasts strong partnerships with leading Indian OEMs, including Mahindra Trucks and Buses, Ashok Leyland and Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles, has  an impressive total installed capacity of 14,000 units annually. This capacity is spread across a massive built-up area of 42,100 sq. m., making it one of the largest facilities in the country. The company operates two plants, strategically located in Zaheerabad, Andhra Pradesh, and Belgaum, Karnataka.
