JSW MG Motor India announced that its MY2025 Astor is now the only 1.5-litre mid-size SUV in India to offer both a 10-inch infotainment display and panoramic sunroof under ₹12.5 lakh ex-showroom. The company made the announcement on May 30, 2025, positioning the vehicle as a "Blockbuster SUV" in the competitive mid-size SUV segment.

The 10-inch infotainment display comes standard across all Astor variants, while the panoramic sunroof is available from the Shine trim onwards. The vehicle also claims to be the only 1.5-litre automatic SUV under ₹15 lakh to feature wireless charging, available on the Sharp Pro variant. Additionally, the Astor offers heated outside rearview mirrors, which the company describes as a segment-first feature among internal combustion engine vehicles.

The MY2025 Astor starts at ₹11.30 lakh ex-showroom and is available with VTi-TECH engine options and 1.5-litre manual and CVT automatic transmissions. The updated model includes two new variants, Shine and Select, alongside existing trims.

Safety features include over 50 systems and 14 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. The vehicle comes with ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, and the i-SMART 2.0 connectivity system with more than 80 connected features. The Jio Voice Recognition system provides voice commands for weather updates, cricket scores, calculator, and news.

JSW MG Motor India is a joint venture formed in 2023 between China's SAIC Motor, a Fortune 500 company, and India's JSW Group. The partnership aims to develop vehicles with advanced technology and value propositions for the Indian market.

Morris Garages, originally founded in the UK in 1924, was known for sports cars and roadsters. The brand has manufacturing operations in Halol, Gujarat, with an annual production capacity exceeding 100,000 vehicles. MG Motor India has introduced several vehicles in India, including the Hector SUV, ZS EV electric SUV, Gloster premium SUV, and Comet compact car.

The mid-size SUV segment in India has seen increased competition with multiple manufacturers offering feature-rich vehicles in the ₹10-15 lakh price range. The segment includes models from Hyundai, Kia, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Mahindra, among others.
