This is the third EV from the luxury carmaker in India.
Mercedes-Benz has launched the EQE 500 4Matic SUV in India at Rs 1.39 crore. The brand has not brought the more powerful AMG-spec EQE SUVs to the country but instead has opted to bring only the top-spec model of the regular SUV. The EQE 500 is the third Mercedes EV in India after the EQB SUV and the EQS sedan.
Mercedes Benz EQE 500 4matic design, interior and features
The Mercedes EQE SUV carries over the styling of the brand's other EVs with sleek lines and clean curves along the body. Functional styling cues that are carried over from other EVs are aerodynamic wheels and a sealed-off front grille.
The EQE SUV comes with 20-inch wheels and air suspension that can raise the ride height of the SUV by 25mm. The EQE SUV is a large vehicle with a length of 4,863mm, a height of 1,685mm, and a wheelbase of 3,030 mm.
On the inside, the EQE 500 SUV comes with the brand's 56-inch Hyperscreen unit as standard. This consists of three screens on the dashboard that are all connected by thick tempered glass. The screens can display information in the case of the digital instruments screen and can also be used for entertainment as with the passenger display and central infotainment unit.
The EQE comes equipped with features such as ADAS, a 15-speaker Burmester sound system, a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter for the cabin and massage functions for the front seats.
Mercedes EQE 500 SUV 4matic powertrain, range and battery
The Mercedes EQE 500 SUV comes equipped with a dual motor, all-wheel drive setup and includes an off-road package as standard. The SUV gets a 90.56kWh battery, which has a claimed WLTP range of 550km and although it comes with an 11kW AC charger, it can support up to 170kW of DC fast charging.
The motors produce 408hp and 858Nm, which allows it to accelerate from 0-100 kph in a claimed time of 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 210 km/h. There are three levels of regeneration available that can be toggled via the paddle shifters behind the wheel. Additionally, Mercedes will offer the EQE 5004matic SUV with a 10-year warranty on the battery.
Mercedes EQE 500 4matic SUV rivals and price
Although marginally expensive, the Mercedes EQE SUV will be sold in India as a CBU and rivals other luxury electric SUVs like the newly launched Audi Q8 e-tron (Rs 1.14 crore-1.26 crore), the BMW iX (Rs 1.21 crore), and the Jaguar I-Pace (Rs 1.20 crore).
