Mercedes EQS SUV launched at introductory price of Rs 1.41 crore
EQS SUV available in sole 580 4Matic spec.
Mercedes has launched the EQS SUV in India at an introductory price of Rs 1.41 crore, just days after the introduction of the Maybach EQS SUV. This is the sixth EV in Mercedes’ Indian line-up and is positioned between the EQE SUV and the Maybach EQS SUV.
On the outside, the EQS SUV gets a blanked-off black panel grille that extends into the lower section of the front bumper, flanked by LED headlamps that are connected together with a LED light bar running across the nose. The chrome-laden fascia on the Maybach version has been toned down on the standard EQS SUV.
The rear end features the same overall design as the Maybach EQS SUV with the full-width LED tail lamps. However, the rear bumper is redesigned and mirroring the front, features lesser chrome elements on the EQS SUV. The EQS SUV is 82mm shorter, 3mm wider and 105mm lower than the Mercedes GLS.
Mercedes EQS SUV interior and features
The EQS SUV is available in a single fully-loaded 580 4Matic spec which offers features such as the Hyperscreen setup comprising a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment and a 12.3-inch front passenger screen, conjoined together.
It also gets 21-inch AMG alloy wheels, soft-close doors, puddle lamps, illuminated running boards, a 15-speaker Burmester sound system, five-zone climate control, dual 11.6-inch rear entertainment screens ADAS Level 2, 9 airbags and more. Mercedes is offering the EQS SUV in India with a standard 7-seat configuration.
Mercedes EQS SUV powertrain, specs and range
The EQS SUV comes equipped with a 122kWh battery powering the dual electric motor setup. Combined, the electric SUV produces 544hp and 858Nm of peak torque, and offers all-wheel drive. It can sprint from 0-100kph in 4.7 seconds. The India-spec EQS 580 4Matic has an ARAI-certified range of 809km on a single charge. The battery supports up to 200kW DC fast charging.
At an introductory starting price of Rs 1.41 crore, the EQS SUV is just Rs 2 lakh costlier than the EQE SUV (Rs 1.39 crore), thanks to local assembly. Similar to the EQE SUV, the EQS SUV will also face competition from the likes of BMW iX (Rs 1.4 crore) and Audi Q8 e-tron (Rs 1.15 crore-1.27 crore).
