Mercedes-Benz India GLS facelift on January 8, 2024

Mercedes-Benz India has announced the launch of the GLS facelift on January 8, 2024, marking the start of the German brand’s launch spree in the coming year. Prices for Merc’s refreshed flagship SUV will be announced at the end of the brand’s Annual Press Conference 2024, which starts at 12:30pm.

Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift: what’s new?

Compared to the outgoing GLS, cosmetic updates on the outside of the facelift include four horizontal louvres in the grille that get a Silver Shadow finish, a new front bumper with air inlet grilles and high-gloss black surrounds, and new tail-lamps that get three horizontal block patterns, forming a new motif.

There are more updates on the inside than on the outside though. The biggest one is the upgraded MBUX infotainment system. Other changes include glossy brown lime wood trim, a permanent low-speed 360-degree camera, and new upholstery options that include Catalana Beige and Bahia Brown leather.

Like the current GLS on sale in India, the facelift is expected to have a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine in the GLS 450 4Matic, and a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel unit in the GLS 400d 4Matic. The 9-speed automatic gearbox and the 4Matic AWD system will be standard on both versions of the GLS facelift. Prices are expected to be upwards of Rs 1 crore, ex-showroom, India.
