Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric to Launch in India on November 4

Mercedes-Benz will launch the GLC Electric in India on November 4, 2026. The electric SUV will be locally assembled at the company's Chakan plant in Pune, with bookings set to open in October. The India-spec model will be offered in the 400 4Matic guise. Mercedes-Benz says the GLC Electric will become its fastest global model to reach India as a locally assembled vehicle, arriving around six months after sales began in Europe.

GLC Electric gets 490hp dual-motor setup

The GLC Electric 400 4Matic uses a 94kWh battery pack and has a claimed WLTP range of 715km.Its dual electric motors produce a combined 490hp and 800Nm, allowing the 2.5-tonne SUV to accelerate from 0-100kph in a claimed 4.3 seconds.

The GLC Electric supports up to 330kW DC fast charging, with Mercedes-Benz claiming up to 300km of additional range can be added in 10 minutes.

Illuminated grille and star-shaped lighting

The GLC Electric gets a distinctive exterior design with a large rounded grille featuring illuminated elements. It also gets star-shaped LED DRLs and projector LED headlights.

The side profile features flush-fitting door handles, slim wheel-arch cladding and alloy wheels measuring up to 21 inches.At the rear, the SUV gets star-shaped LED tail-lamps with circular outlines, connected by a gloss-black trim. The front Mercedes logo is illuminated, while the rear uses a solid 3D badge.

39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen inside

The GLC Electric's cabin is dominated by a 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, which Mercedes-Benz claims is its largest display yet.The setup combines the digital instrument cluster, central infotainment screen and passenger display into a single integrated unit. It runs Mercedes-Benz's fourth-generation MBUX interface and includes a built-in AI assistant.Despite the large digital display, the GLC Electric retains physical controls on the steering wheel and centre console.

Expected price and rivals

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is expected to be priced between Rs 80 lakh and Rs 90 lakh (ex-showroom).

The India-spec 400 4Matic will enter the electric luxury SUV space ahead of the planned arrival of the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase, which is slated to launch in India in 2027.
