Mercedes-Benz India has introduced an AI-powered automated Vehicle Scanner, launched the Service Select programme for cars aged seven years and inaugurated a new service facility in Mumbai. The initiatives are part of the company’s efforts to expand its service offerings and reduce ownership costs.

The Vehicle Scanner, deployed at the Landmark Cars service facility in Jogeshwari, Mumbai, is described by Mercedes-Benz as India’s first AI-powered automated vehicle scanner deployed by an automaker. It uses a 360-degree high-resolution camera system to digitally record the vehicle’s exterior condition, identify damage and assess tyre tread depth.

Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer said, “Introduction of India’s first AI-driven, automated vehicle scanner marks an important step in the deployment of AI and automation for driving transparency, trust and efficiency.”

Service Select has been introduced as a customer loyalty programme for Mercedes-Benz vehicles that are seven years old. The programme offers savings of up to 25 per cent on select parts, Mobilio Lite benefits, a two-year warranty on parts and expert care aimed at protecting residual value.

The company also lists its STAR EASE Service Package, three-year standard warranty and extended warranty of up to six years among its ownership-cost offerings. Mercedes-Benz says its service network comprises more than 90 service touchpoints and 1,200 service bays, supported by more than 4,200 employees.

Other service initiatives include MB. CHARGE Public, the MBFS Mobile App and the India-developed SKYLine dealer management system. Mercedes-Benz also offers Premier Express Prime, Fast Lane B&P and Doorstep Mobile Service, along with services such as HV Battery Reports, Collision Care Connected Support and mobility assistance with tele-diagnostics and live tracking.

AI Vehicle Scanner Digitises Service Inspection

The Vehicle Scanner captures the vehicle’s complete exterior condition as it passes through the system. The images are automatically anonymised, while AI identifies external damage and measures tyre tread depth. The information is then added to the workshop order and reception report, linking the scan to the service job without manual entry.

The system provides service advisors with real-time vehicle data on tablets and allows customers to view a digital record of the vehicle’s condition before approving required work. Mercedes-Benz says automated documentation is intended to reduce paperwork and waiting times during service reception.

Mercedes-Benz Expands Mumbai Service Network

The new Landmark Cars facility is Mercedes-Benz’s 14th luxury facility in Mumbai and the city’s largest luxury service facility, according to the company. Spread across approximately 58,000 sq ft, it has 16 preventive maintenance and general repair bays, nine body and paint bays and nine supporting bays, along with a 6,000 sq ft spare-parts area. The facility has approximately 95 trained professionals.

Mercedes-Benz India plans to add more than 20 luxury outlets during 2026, with more than ₹450 crore in investment committed by franchise partners over the next two years.
