Mercedes-Benz India will introduce the CLA 200 'Standard Range' alongside the previously announced CLA 250+ 'Long Range' when the all-electric CLA makes its India debut. The company stated the decision was directly driven by feedback from prospective customers who had expressed interest in an additional variant with a lower price point and a range figure suited to everyday urban and intercity use. Both variants are now open for booking, with deliveries expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
The CLA 200 'Standard Range' carries a tentative ex-showroom price of Rs. 55 lakhs, while the CLA 250+ 'Long Range' is priced at Rs. 59 lakhs. Mercedes-Benz has noted that both figures are subject to revision depending on forex rates prevailing at the time of the official launch, expected in mid-April 2026. Bookings for both variants are open with an amount of Rs. 1.5 lakhs.
On the range front, the CLA 200 'Standard Range' offers 542 km on the WLTP cycle, while the CLA 250+ 'Long Range' extends that figure to 792 km. The gap in range is reflected in the charging architecture as well. The Long Range variant is built on an 800V platform, enabling it to add 400 km of range in just 20 minutes when connected to a 240 kW DC fast charger. The Standard Range, whose maximum DC charging speed is 200 kW, can recover 320 km in the same duration using the same charger. Both figures represent a meaningful improvement over what has been typical for electric vehicles in this segment.
Despite the difference in range and price, Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the equipment levels across both variants will remain identical — a positioning decision the company described as consistent with its approach in India of offering high product substance as standard. Where the two variants do differ is in their exterior styling language. The CLA 200 comes with the 'Progressive Line' treatment, featuring comfort seats, a multifunction sports leather steering wheel, and two trim options. The CLA 250+, by contrast, adopts the AMG Line aesthetic, which typically includes sportier visual elements.
To address potential concerns around charging infrastructure, Mercedes-Benz has pointed to its MB.CHARGE Public network, which spans over 9,000 charging points across India. The company's MBUX Virtual Assistant, integrated into the car's infotainment system, is designed to help drivers plan routes with optimised charging intervals, including on longer journeys where the Standard Range's 542 km ceiling may require a top-up stop.
For home charging, customers have the option of purchasing a Mercedes-Benz wall box through franchise partners. Priced at Rs. 50,000 — inclusive of installation — the wall box supports charging at up to 22 kW and is compatible with the Mercedes me app, which allows users to monitor and schedule charging sessions remotely. Customers who pre-book either variant before the launch will receive the wall box as a complimentary benefit, removing what could otherwise be an additional upfront cost for new owners.
Deliveries of the CLA 250+ 'Long Range' are scheduled to begin by end of April 2026, with the CLA 200 'Standard Range' following in June 2026. The staggered timeline suggests the Long Range variant, likely the higher-volume configuration globally, is further along in its localisation and import preparation.
The CLA launch comes at a point when interest in electric vehicles within the luxury segment in India has been growing steadily, even as overall BEV adoption in the country remains in early stages relative to mass-market volumes. Mercedes-Benz has been among the more active luxury brands in building out its electric lineup in India, retailing models such as the EQS 580 sedan, EQS SUV, EQA, EQB, and EQE locally. The company is also one of the few luxury manufacturers to produce electric vehicles domestically, operating a production facility spread across 100 acres in Chakan, near Pune.
The all-new CLA represents a newer generation of Mercedes-Benz electric architecture, and its India introduction with two variants from the outset signals the company's intent to address a wider price band within the premium electric segment rather than limiting the model to a single, higher-priced configuration.
