MATTER Introduces Flexible Ownership Models for AERA 5000+ Electric Motorbike
Electric mobility startup announces product-as-a-service and buy-now-pay-later options ahead of Diwali
Ahmedabad-based electric mobility company MATTER has unveiled its "22nd Century Smart Ownership Plans" for the AERA 5000+, a geared electric motorbike.
The company announced the initiative on October 9, 2025, positioning it as a way to make electric vehicle ownership more accessible and affordable.
The new plans separate vehicle purchase costs from battery usage costs through two distinct models. Under the Product-as-a-Service (P-a-a-S) model, customers can own the AERA 5000+ for an introductory price of ₹1,29,000 and pay ₹1.16 per kilometer for battery usage. The Buy Now, Pay Flexi Later (BNPL) option allows customers to pay part of the vehicle cost upfront through digital payment methods or cards, with the remaining balance spread across monthly installments.
According to MATTER, both ownership models come with a lifetime battery warranty, future upgrade assistance, and access to charging infrastructure through MATTER Charge Hubs. The company claims the effective cost of riding is lower than petrol-powered motorbikes.
The AERA 5000+ is equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission combined with three ride modes, a liquid-cooled powertrain, and a 5-kilowatt-hour battery pack with a certified range of 172 kilometers. The vehicle features a 7-inch touchscreen dashboard, dual disc brakes with anti-lock braking system, and dual suspension. The company claims a 0-40 km/h acceleration time of 2.8 seconds.
MATTER, founded in 2019, has filed over 375 patents and holds 82 granted patents in electric powertrain and battery management technologies. The company employs over 600 engineers and has previously received recognition including the EV Bike of the Year award from ACKO Drive and an Editors' Choice award from Top Gear India.
Bookings for the AERA 5000+ are available on the company's website, with test rides offered at MATTER Experience Hubs across the country. The launch aligns with the Diwali festival period in India.
