Maruti Suzuki's Kazunari Yamaguchi Steps Down as Production Director; S.P. Nayak Named Head of Production

In a regulatory filing, Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced that Kazunari Yamaguchi has resigned from his post as Whole-time Director, designated Director (Production). The resignation takes effect from the close of business hours on September 30, 2026.

The resignation follows the withdrawal of his nomination by Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan. In his resignation letter to the Board, dated September 30, Yamaguchi referred to a letter dated September 23, 2026, received from Suzuki Motor Corporation. He also resigned as a member of the company's Risk Management Committee, effective the same time. He thanked the Board for its cooperation and support during his tenure as Whole-time Director. Yamaguchi continue on the Board as a Non-executive Director.

S.P. Nayak Appointed Head of Production at Maruti Suzuki

The company also said its Board has appointed Sarada Prasana Nayak as Senior Management Personnel (SMP), designated Head (Production and Production Engineering). The appointment is effective October 1, 2026.

According to the company's disclosure, Nayak is responsible for charting the business plan and strategy for the entire manufacturing domain. This includes capacity expansion, lean and efficient operations across multiple plant locations, smart factory initiatives and sustainable operations.

Who Is Sarada Prasana Nayak? Education and Experience

Nayak is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering and an alumnus of Utkal University and Ravenshaw College in Odisha. He has more than 30 years of experience planning large-scale capital expenditure programmes. He has led teams setting up both greenfield and brownfield projects from concept to commissioning, and has introduced new products in plants. His work has also covered localization, supplier development, the introduction of new technologies and systems, and carbon-neutral initiatives.
