Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced that its Fronx SUV has become the fastest vehicle of its category manufactured in India to reach 100,000 export units. The company achieved this milestone in 25 months since beginning global sales to customers in June 2023.
The Fronx, launched in the Indian market in April 2023, is manufactured exclusively at Maruti Suzuki's Gujarat facility. The vehicle is currently exported to more than 80 countries across Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. Japan has emerged as a key market contributing to the model's export volumes.
"Maruti Suzuki's capability to manufacture world-class vehicles for global markets exemplifies the true essence of 'Make in India' initiative," said Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited. The company's focus on international markets has supported its continued leadership in passenger vehicle exports from India.
During the 2024-25 financial year, Fronx became India's top exported passenger vehicle with over 69,000 units dispatched overseas. The model was among the five best-performing export vehicles for Maruti Suzuki, alongside Jimny, Baleno, Swift, and Dzire.
Maruti Suzuki has maintained its position as India's leading passenger vehicle exporter for four consecutive financial years. In the first quarter of 2025-26, the company exported over 96,000 vehicles, capturing a 47% share of India's passenger vehicle exports. This represents the company's highest export share to date.
The automaker's total export volumes in 2024-25 exceeded 330,000 units, marking a 17.5% increase over the previous financial year and setting a new record for the company. Maruti Suzuki currently exports 17 different models to nearly 100 countries worldwide.
South Africa, Japan, and Saudi Arabia represent the company's primary export destinations. The company's export strategy aligns with India's broader manufacturing initiatives and demonstrates the domestic automotive industry's growing capability to serve global markets.
The Fronx's export success reflects the increasing acceptance of Indian-manufactured vehicles in international markets and supports the country's position as an emerging automotive manufacturing hub.
