Maruti Suzuki to Set Up Automated Driving Test Tracks in Four Andhra Pradesh Cities

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Transport Department of Andhra Pradesh to establish and maintain four Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) across the state as part of its corporate social responsibility program.

The facilities will be set up at Regional Transport Office locations in Eluru, Ongole, Vizianagaram, and Anakapalli. Under the agreement signed on February 6, 2026, Maruti Suzuki will automate and maintain these test tracks for three years from their commissioning date.

The ADTTs will feature high-definition cameras, RFID sensors, real-time analytics, and an integrated IT system designed to provide standardized and objective driving license testing. The technology-enabled system operates without human intervention and evaluates candidates according to Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), with test results generated automatically.

Three of the facilities will serve applicants for Light Motor Vehicles and Two-Wheelers licenses, while the Ongole location will additionally accommodate Heavy Motor Vehicles license testing.

Speaking about the initiative, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said the project aligns with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's vision for technology-led solutions. He emphasized that the automated system ensures only skilled drivers receive licenses, thereby improving road safety.

Manish Kumar Sinha, Transport Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh, stated that Maruti Suzuki will provide technology integration with the SARATHI system, personnel training, and routine maintenance. The Transport Department will supply infrastructure, conduct civil works, and manage security and electricity supply at the sites.

This expansion brings Maruti Suzuki's total ADTT footprint to 81 facilities nationwide. The company has previously automated 46 ADTTs across seven states and signed agreements for an additional 31 tracks in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu in 2025.

Beyond driving test automation, Maruti Suzuki operates eight Institutes of Driving and Traffic Research and 23 Road Safety Knowledge Centres in collaboration with state governments. The company also implements traffic safety management systems and provides first responder training to commercial drivers.
