Maruti Suzuki has announced it targets to raise female student enrolment at the Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM) in Uncha Majra, Manesar, from approximately 5% in Academic Year 2025-26 to 30% by 2028-29.
To achieve this target, the company said it has introduced support initiatives starting this academic year, including a 100% waiver on tuition fees and a monthly stipend of Rs 3,000 for eligible female trainees during their institute-based training. Maruti Suzuki says it also plans to construct a dedicated women's hostel on campus and increase female representation across its faculty and operational support staff.
Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, "While talented women are present across the country, many remain unaware of the opportunities available in the manufacturing sector or have not considered it as a career choice. We believe this initiative will encourage more young women to pursue careers in manufacturing and participate in the growth of India's industrial workforce."
About the Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM) Network
The Manesar institute forms part of a collaborative skill development programme established between the Governments of India and Japan. Maruti Suzuki currently supports four JIM facilities nationwide, situated at Mehsana and Gandhinagar in Gujarat, and in Manesar and Sonipat in Haryana.
