Maruti Suzuki India has issued a recall for 16,041 vehicles comprising 11,851 units of the premium Baleno hatchback and 4,190 units of the Wagon R manufactured between July 30, 2019 and November 1, 2019.

This recall is a precautionary measure prompted by suspicions of a defect in the fuel pump motor component. While instances of this issue are rare, there is a possibility that it could result in engine stalling or starting problems.

Affected owners of these vehicles will receive communication from authorized Maruti Suzuki dealer workshops. The company has assured that the replacement of the faulty part will be conducted free of charge. This proactive step is aimed at ensuring the safety and reliability of the vehicles on the road.

With this latest recall, Maruti Suzuki’s total vehicle recalls since the SIAM Code of Voluntary Recall came into effect from July 2012 adds up to 776,302 units. In July 2020, there was a similar recall for the Baleno and Wagon R, for 134,885 units manufactured between November 15, 2018 and January 8, 2019 due to “a possibility of fuel pump motor malfunctioning leading to engine stopping or not starting.”
