Maruti Suzuki recalls Alto K10 in India
A total of 2,555 units have been affected.
Maruti Suzuki is voluntarily recalling 2,555 units of the Alto K10 due to a potential fault in the ‘steering gearbox assembly’ which could affect the vehicle's steerability.
The car manufacturer hasn’t revealed the dates between which these faulty units were manufactured. However, Maruti says that affected vehicle owners will be contacted by authorized dealer workshops for inspection and replacement of the faulty part voluntarily. The replacement will be carried out free of cost.
Maruti Suzuki has advised owners of the affected vehicles not to drive or use their vehicle till the part is replaced. Alto K10 owners can also visit Maruti Suzuki’s website to check if their car is a part of the recall with the help of the chassis number.
The Alto K10 is offered with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder NA petrol engine producing 67hp and 89Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, or an optional 5-speed AMT. The entry-level hatch also gets an optional factory-fit CNG kit.
Maruti retails the Alto K10 at a base price of Rs 3.99 lakh to Rs 5.96 lakh (ex-showroom). It directly rivals the Renault Kwid, while also facing competition from its own sibling, S-Presso. The Alto is currently available with discounts of up to Rs 50,100 this month.
