Maruti Suzuki India Limited has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Transport Department of Rajasthan to establish 21 automated driving license test tracks across 20 major cities in the state.
The initiative, funded through the company's corporate social responsibility program, was formalized on August 31, 2025, in the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa.
The automated driving test tracks will be deployed in cities including Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Bikaner, Alwar, and 14 other locations. These facilities will serve applicants for both two-wheeler and light motor vehicle driving licenses, equipped with high-definition cameras, RFID sensors, real-time analytics, and integrated IT systems to conduct computerized, rule-based testing in compliance with Central Motor Vehicle Rules.
Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa stated that the partnership aligns with the state's 10-year Road Safety Action Plan and will make the driving license testing process more comprehensive and transparent. The automated system is designed to eliminate human bias and error from the evaluation process.
Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer for Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki, emphasized that driver skill remains a critical factor in road safety and that technology can ensure fair and accurate testing.
The automated tracks use analytical tools to enhance transparency and efficiency while ensuring only competent drivers with requisite knowledge and skills obtain licenses.
This expansion represents part of Maruti Suzuki's broader road safety initiative, which the company describes as following five pillars: Education, Evaluation, Enforcement, Engineering, and Emergency Care.
The company has previously established 45 automated driving test tracks across India, including 17 in Uttar Pradesh, 14 in Delhi, seven in Bihar, four in Uttarakhand, two in Haryana, and one in Jammu. With the addition of the Rajasthan facilities, the total will reach 66 tracks nationwide.
Beyond the test tracks, Maruti Suzuki has established eight Institutes of Driving and Traffic Research and 23 Road Safety Knowledge Centers in collaboration with various state governments.
The company also implements traffic safety management systems with real-time monitoring and provides first responder training to commercial drivers and other stakeholders to improve emergency care.
