Maruti Suzuki has introduced Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) in Haridwar and Rishikesh under its CSR initiative, with the inauguration led by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami. The tracks utilize advanced technology to conduct driving license tests with greater efficiency and transparency.
ADTTs are equipped with high-definition cameras and integrated IT systems to evaluate drivers without human intervention, ensuring compliance with Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR). These facilities cater to Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) and two-wheeler license testing.
Dedicating the new centers to the state, Shri Brijesh Kumar Sant, Secretary Transport, Uttarakhand Government, stated, “We are committed to making Uttarakhand's roads safer, and Maruti Suzuki's ADTTs are an important enabler in this direction. Our association with Maruti Suzuki goes back to 2009, when the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research was established in Dehradun. With the comprehensive evaluation at ADTTs, we can ensure that only skilled drivers get a driving license.”
Maruti Suzuki has been operating an ADTT in Dehradun since 2019, which received recognition for Excellence and Good Governance. Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, emphasized the role of ADTTs in improving driver competence. “We thank the Uttarakhand Government for their continued association with Maruti Suzuki. Efficient and skilled drivers are needed to boost tourism and contribute to safer roads. Our Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) can play a vital role to achieve this goal by ensuring that only skilled and competent drivers receive a license through a 100% computerized, transparent, and efficient testing process.”
Beyond automated testing, Maruti Suzuki collaborates on refresher training programs for commercial drivers ahead of the Char Dham yatra. This initiative, covering around 11,000 drivers, prepares them for challenging terrains and is a prerequisite for the mandatory Green Card required during the pilgrimage.
Following the introduction of ADTTs, initial declines in pass percentages are observed before gradually improving. In Dehradun, the pass rate dropped to 60% in FY 2019-20 but has since risen to 69%, reflecting better driver preparedness over time.
