Maruti Suzuki Kharkhoda Facility To See ₹35,000 Crore Investment, Create 21,000 Jobs
The Haryana manufacturing facility is planned to reach an annual production capacity of one million vehicles, with the project expected to play a key role in Maruti Suzuki’s long-term four million-unit production ambition.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Thursday said its Kharkhoda manufacturing facility in Haryana is projected to attract a total investment of ₹35,000 crore and create more than 21,000 jobs, including at the integrated supplier park, once the facility reaches its planned annual production capacity of one million vehicles.
The company announced the details as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi jointly inaugurated the facility through video conferencing during the India-Japan Joint Economic Forum.
According to Maruti Suzuki, the Kharkhoda complex will become one of the world’s largest vehicle manufacturing facilities when expanded to its planned capacity of one million vehicles a year. The company said the project will be a key contributor to its long-term ambition of achieving an annual production capacity of four million vehicles across its manufacturing network.
The facility currently has an installed annual production capacity of 500,000 vehicles, with Suzuki Motor Corporation President Toshihiro Suzuki announcing that it will be expanded to one million units in the coming years.
Suzuki also highlighted India’s growing strategic importance within the Suzuki Group, saying the country’s role has expanded significantly over the years. He noted that the company’s first battery electric vehicle, the e VITARA, is being manufactured exclusively at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat facility for exports to around 100 countries.
He added that exports of Made-in-India vehicles have made Suzuki the largest car importer in Japan, describing it as evidence of how the “Make in India, Make for the World” initiative is translating into growing global confidence in India’s manufacturing capabilities.
