Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved a cumulative production milestone of 3 million units for its Dzire sedan. This milestone was reached in 16 years and 11 months since the car’s launch in March 2008. Earlier milestones include 1 million units in April 2015 and 2 million units in June 2019. Other Maruti Suzuki models that have crossed the 3 million production mark include the Alto, Swift, and WagonR.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, acknowledged customer support in reaching this milestone. He highlighted the recently launched Dzire, which incorporates updated features and modern design. Over the years, the Dzire has been a key contributor to the company’s performance in the sedan segment.
The Dzire was first introduced in 2008 and followed by second- and third-generation models in 2012 and 2017, respectively. The fourth-generation model, launched in November 2024, includes a refreshed design, upgraded interiors, and new features.
In addition to its domestic success, the Dzire has been well-received in international markets. Since exports began in October 2008, around 2.6 lakh units have been shipped to 48 countries, including regions such as Latin America, Central America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. During the fiscal year 2023–24, the Dzire was Maruti Suzuki’s second most exported model.
According to verified data from JATO Dynamics, the Dzire has remained a prominent sedan in India, with one in every two compact sedans sold in the country being a Dzire. It is also listed as India’s fourth most sold vehicle and one of the top five export models from Maruti Suzuki.
