Maruti Suzuki India’s Dzire has crossed 3.5 million (35 lakh) units in cumulative production since its launch in 2008. The sedan, currently manufactured at the company's Manesar facility, achieved the milestone in approximately 18 years and nine months.
The Dzire is the fourth Maruti Suzuki model to cross 3.5 million units in production, after the Alto, Swift and WagonR. It reached the one-million mark in April 2015, two million in June 2019 and three million in December 2024.
The pace of production has accelerated over the years. While the first million units took seven years and three months to manufacture, the latest million were produced in four years and four months.
The Dzire has maintained its position in the sedan segment, with Maruti Suzuki retaining segment leadership for 19 consecutive years. It is also the company's highest-selling passenger vehicle and featured among its five largest export models in FY2026.
The current, fourth-generation Dzire was launched in November 2024. It comes with updated styling, two-tone interiors and additional features. The company has also introduced an automatic S-CNG variant, which it claims delivers a fuel efficiency of 36.47 km/kg.
The Dzire is also the first sedan to receive a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India, said the model's four generations had helped it remain relevant to changing customer preferences over nearly two decades. He attributed its performance to customer acceptance and the contributions of the company's employees, suppliers and dealer partners.
