Maruti Suzuki India has equipped its Super Carry mini truck with Electronic Stability Program (ESP), making it the first vehicle in its segment to offer this safety feature, the company announced on March 4, 2025.
The ESP system includes seven safety functions designed to enhance vehicle stability and prevent rollovers. These include Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Engine Drag Control, Traction Control System, Rollover Prevention, Hydraulic Brake Assist, and the core Electronic Stability Program feature.
Additional safety enhancements introduced with this update include front disc brakes, reverse parking sensors, and seat belt reminders, according to the company's statement.
"The introduction of the Electronic Stability Program in the Super Carry underscores our commitment to innovation and customer safety," said Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited.
The Super Carry is powered by a 1.2L K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine with a five-speed manual transmission. It is available in both gasoline and CNG variants, with prices ranging from ₹5,49,000 to ₹6,64,000 (ex-showroom).
Since its launch, Maruti Suzuki has sold over 2.2 lakh units of the Super Carry through its network of 370+ commercial outlets across 270 cities in India. The mini truck serves multiple commercial applications including e-commerce deliveries, courier services, FMCG distribution, and general goods transportation.
The commercial mini truck segment in India has seen increasing competition in recent years, with manufacturers focusing on improving safety features and fuel efficiency to meet evolving customer requirements and regulatory standards.
