The Maruti eVitara will finally go on sale in December this year. This development was confirmed by the company’s Managing Director and CEO, Hisashi Takeuchi recently during a call with the media. The eVitara’s launch has been delayed multiple times due to software integration and battery supply issues according to Maruti.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is being manufactured the Suzuki's Hansalpur facility in Gujarat for India and export markets. Exports for the model began in August 2025, and Maruti Suzuki has already shipped more than 7,500 units in 23 countries, with the United Kingdom emerging as the leading export market currently.
The SUV is offered with 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs for export markets, both powering a front-mounted electric motor. The smaller unit produces 144hp and offers a 344km WLTP range, while the larger 61kWh battery boosts output to 174hp and extends range to 428km. A dual-motor AllGrip-e AWD option is also available globally, producing 184hp and delivering 394km of range.
For India, Maruti will initially launch the eVitara with a 61kWh FWD setup, which is expected to deliver a claimed ARAI-certified range of over 500km, with the AWD version to follow later.
Pricing for the e Vitara is expected to start around Rs 20 lakh for the base 49kWh variant and go up to ₹25 lakh for the 61kWh model. The SUV will compete in the hotly contested midsize EV segment against the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6, and VinFast VF7.
