Marelli joins Nissan Formula E Team as technical partner

Marelli begins a two-year partnership with the Nissan Formula E Team, bringing expertise in electrified motorsport.

Marelli has announced a new role as the technical partner for the Nissan Formula E Team, under an initial two-year agreement.

With more than a century of experience as a technology partner in both the automotive and motorsport sectors, Marelli is focused on collaborating with customers and partners to advance mobility.

This partnership allows the Nissan Formula E Team to leverage Marelli Motorsport's expertise, with the potential to further support vehicle development in future seasons. Known for its innovation and manufacturing capabilities, Marelli aims to showcase its technical expertise in the field of electrified motorsport through this collaboration.

Marelli's branding will also appear on the rear wing of both Nissan e-4ORCE 05 cars, the team’s garage, and various marketing platforms.

Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director and Team Principal of the Nissan Formula E Team, commented on the collaboration, stating that Marelli Motorsport brings valuable industry expertise. He emphasised the team's focus on exploring collaborative possibilities in control systems development and expressed confidence in the alignment with Marelli Motorsport.

Riccardo De Filippi, Head of Marelli Motorsport, shared his enthusiasm for expanding the company’s partnership with Nissan, now reaching into the Formula E space. He also highlighted the opportunity to strengthen Marelli’s relationship with Nissan in both motorsport and road car segments and looks forward to contributing technically to the team’s progress.

Formula E is an all-electric racing series launched in 2014, aiming to promote sustainable mobility in motorsport. Governed by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), it features single-seater electric vehicles that compete on urban circuits worldwide. The championship offers a platform for automakers and technology firms to develop and test electric vehicle technologies, including advancements in battery efficiency, power management, and electric drivetrain systems.

With races held in major cities like Berlin, Rome, and New York, Formula E showcases electric motorsport to a broad audience while encouraging city-based electrification. The series includes unique elements, such as "Fan Boost," which allows fans to influence the race by voting for drivers to receive additional power. Formula E's primary objective is to raise awareness about electric vehicles and contribute to sustainable transportation development, fostering innovation in electric mobility solutions through high-profile competitive racing.
