MapmyIndia HD Maps Integrated With MathWorks For ADAS Validation

MathWorks and MapmyIndia Mappls have announced a collaboration aimed at supporting the development and validation of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for Indian road environments. The integration combines MapmyIndia’s high-definition (HD) maps with MathWorks’ MATLAB, Simulink and RoadRunner workflows.

The companies said the integration will allow automotive engineering teams to simulate road and traffic scenarios and begin validation earlier in the development cycle. The workflow can also be used to create digital twins of Indian road environments and test ADAS controllers within a Model-Based Design environment.

MapmyIndia HD Maps For Indian Road Conditions

The companies cited the variability of Indian road environments as a challenge for ADAS development, including dense and heterogeneous traffic, variable lane behaviour, diverse road infrastructure and changing road layouts.

MapmyIndia’s HD maps provide lane-level road geometry, traffic controls and road attributes, along with India-specific features such as speed breakers, potholes and faded lane markings. These features are intended to provide a digital representation of road conditions for simulation and testing.

MapmyIndia Mappls said the integration extends the MathWorks ecosystem for automated-driving development by connecting location intelligence with Model-Based Design workflows covering simulation, algorithm development and validation.

Virtual ADAS Validation Using MATLAB, Simulink And RoadRunner

MathWorks said virtual validation can allow automotive teams developing ADAS for India to evaluate system performance across different driving conditions before physical deployment. The integrated workflow is also intended to enable earlier testing of ADAS algorithms and reduce reliance on physical testing.

MapmyIndia President Automotive business and Chief Operating Officer Sapna Ahuja said the collaboration is focused on using HD map data to represent Indian road conditions in greater detail during ADAS development. MathWorks Senior Manager – Automotive Vijayalayan R. said the integration enables engineers to test ADAS algorithms earlier in the development process.
