MAHLE reiterates focus on biofuels 

MAHLE has reiterated its focus on next-gen bio-fuel engines and sustainable mobility solutions. It is positioning biofuels as integral to MAHLE's strategy to reduce carbon emissions, especially in regions with prevalent internal combustion engines. Highlight innovations in engine technologies for compatibility with India’s diverse biofuels, including ethanol and biodiesel blends.

MAHLE established the Global Bio-Mobility Centre in Brazil last year,
dedicated to developing technologies for biofuel engines around the world
and sharing the knowledge gained on this topic over several years in Brazil. The centre aims to advance research in sustainable fuel technologies,
emphasising biofuels' role in decarbonising and defossilization of road
transport.

"We use our expertise to pave the way for the use of sustainable fuels in internal combustion engines. Our components for high-efficiency engines also capable of running on e-fuels, hydrogen, or other non-fossil fuels will contribute to greater sustainability. The opening of our Biomobility Center in Brazil enables sustainable mobility worldwide," CEO Arnd Franz had said at the annual press conference at that time. 

Milind Godbole, President MAHLE India noted, "MAHLE’s biofuel initiatives are directly aligned with India’s vision for sustainable mobility. Our advanced biofuel engine technologies can be quickly adapted to meet the unique demands of the Indian market, supporting the country’s goals for emissions reduction and energy security."

The company has also supported addressing regional energy needs and emissions regulations, particularly in emerging markets like India and South America where biofuels are crucial for sustainable mobility, as per a press note. 

Last year, the Global Biofuels Alliance was announced at the G20 Summit. The Global Biofuels Alliance is an India-led initiative to develop an alliance of governments, international organisations and industry to facilitate adoption of biofuels. The aim was to accelerate decarbonisation of the transportation sector. The initiative targets stronger biofuels admixture in regular fuels and broader use of pure biofuels like ethanol or biodiesel.

MAHLE further reiterated its support for addressing regional energy needs and emissions regulations, particularly in emerging markets like India and South America where biofuels are crucial for sustainable mobility.
