The Mahindra XUV 7XO has secured a 5-star Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) safety rating for both adult and child occupant protection. The SUV scored 30.76 out of 32 points in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) assessment and 44.97 out of 49 points in the Child Occupant Protection (COP) assessment.
Bharat NCAP tested the seven-seat AX7 diesel-automatic variant in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. Mahindra said the resulting 5-star rating applies across the XUV 7XO range.

Adult occupant protection
The XUV 7XO scored 14.76/16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and a full 16/16 in the side movable deformable barrier test.
In the frontal offset test, the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet received a ‘good’ protection rating, while the chest and tibia were rated ‘adequate’. For the co-driver, the tibiae received an ‘adequate’ rating, while the other critical body regions received ‘good’ protection.
The SUV achieved full marks in the side movable deformable barrier test, with the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis receiving ‘good’ protection. It was also rated ‘OK’ in the side pole impact test.
Child occupant protection
The XUV 7XO scored 23.97/24 in the dynamic child protection assessment, 12/12 for child restraint system (CRS) installation and 9/13 in the vehicle assessment.
Bharat NCAP tested rearward-facing child seats for 18-month-old and three-year-old dummies. In the frontal crash test, the 18-month-old dummy scored 7.97/8, while the three-year-old dummy scored the full 8/8. Both dummies scored 4/4 in the side crash test.
The 0.03-point deduction for the 18-month-old dummy in the frontal test resulted in a dynamic child protection score of 23.97/24. The XUV 7XO subsequently achieved full marks for CRS installation but lost four points in the vehicle assessment, taking its overall COP score to 44.97/49.
The Bharat NCAP result adds the XUV 7XO to Mahindra’s growing list of SUVs evaluated under India’s indigenous vehicle safety assessment programme. The three-row SUV replaced the XUV700 and continues to occupy a position in Mahindra’s premium SUV line-up.
The latest result comes as safety ratings have become an increasingly visible factor in India’s passenger-vehicle market, with Bharat NCAP providing a standardised assessment of crash protection and safety-assistance performance for vehicles sold in the country.
With scores of 30.76/32 for adult occupants and 44.97/49 for child occupants, the XUV 7XO recorded high scores in both occupant-protection categories, including full marks in the side movable deformable barrier and child restraint system installation assessments.
