Mahindra XEV 9S to share XEV 9E’s three screen layout
XEV 9S will be Mahindra’s first three row electric SUV; Global Debut on November 27.
After a series of teasers showing the Mahindra XEV 9S exterior, Mahindra has now given us our first look at the interior. And as expected, the two models share much of their interior design, but the 9S brings in some crucial changes aimed at practicality and comfort.
The dashboard-wide screen setup, comprising three seamlessly connected displays, will also see duty on the XEV 9S. The dashboard design, two-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated Mahindra logo, and sleek centre console are all carried over from the 9e. Apart from the three screens, the biggest differentiator is, of course, the three-row layout. The XEV 9S gets a proper seven-seat configuration, unlike the 9E’s five-seater setup. Mahindra has confirmed that the second row will get a sliding function, while the teaser video hints at a boss mode for the front passenger seat – allowing it to slide forward for extra legroom in the second row. Expect generous space and plenty of storage options too.
On the outside, the XEV 9S is expected to stay close to the XUV.e8 concept showcased earlier, with similar styling cues but a more upright roofline and a conventional tailgate design.
Mahindra hasn’t revealed the technical specifications yet, but the SUV is likely to mirror the XEV 9e’s setup – that means 59kWh and 79kWh battery options and a 231hp, 380Nm rear-mounted motor. An AWD variant with an additional front motor could also be on the cards to take on rivals like the upcoming Tata Harrier EV.
