Mahindra Unveils Thar OG, Priced From Rs 10.32 Lakh

Mahindra has launched the Thar OG, an update of its three-door Thar SUV, with introductory ex-showroom prices starting at Rs 10.32 lakh and reaching up to Rs 18.99 lakh across variants.

Underpinning the renamed Thar is Mahindra's M Glyde 4G platform engineered with higher chassis stiffness for on-road and off-road driving. Mechanical changes include a rear Pentalink suspension setup integrating a Watts link mechanism.

The steering system transitions to electric power steering across the line, while high-spec four-wheel-drive trims gain an electronic locking differential, dedicated terrain driving modes for mud, sand, and snow, and four-wheel disc brakes supported by an Electronic Stability Program 9.3 suite.

Powertrain offerings retain three engine options with revised output ratings on select configurations. The 2.0-litre G20 TGDi mStallion turbo-petrol develops 119 kW (162 PS) and 330 Nm of torque, while the 2.2-litre D22 mHawk diesel produces 111.9 kW (152 PS) and 330 Nm of torque. The entry-level 1.5-litre D117 CRDe diesel, available exclusively in rear-wheel-drive manual guise, retains its output at 87.2 kW (119 PS) and 300 Nm. Gearbox options continue with six-speed manual and six-speed torque-converter automatic transmissions depending on the trim and drivetrain layout.

On the exterior, the SUV receives a redesigned front fascia, circular LED headlamps flanked by C-shaped daytime running lights, revised front and rear bumpers, a wider track, LED ice-cube fog lamps with cornering illumination, updated LED tail-lamps, and 19-inch alloy wheels on higher variants.

Cabin equipment updates encompass truffle brown leatherette upholstery, a 26.03 cm high-definition infotainment touchscreen with smartphone mirroring, a digital multi-information display, rear air-conditioning vents, wireless charging, front and rear parking sensors, and six airbags incorporating head, pelvis, thorax, and shoulder protection.

The model range is structured across three core trims: AXT, LXT, and ZXT. The entry-level AXT rear-wheel-drive diesel manual opens the range at Rs 10.32 lakh. The mid-spec LXT trim spans from Rs 12.99 lakh for the 1.5-litre diesel manual RWD to Rs 18.00 lakh for the 2.2-litre diesel automatic 4WD, alongside petrol options between Rs 14.77 lakh and Rs 17.23 lakh. The flagship ZXT trim ranges from Rs 13.99 lakh for the RWD diesel manual up to Rs 18.99 lakh for the 2.2-litre 4WD diesel automatic, with top-tier petrol variants priced between Rs 16.09 lakh and Rs 17.75 lakh.
