Mahindra Thar 5 door named Thar Roxx, launch on Independence Day
Thar 5-door to rival Force Gurkha 5-door.
The Thar 5-door, one of Mahindra's highly anticipated SUVs this year, will launch in India on August 15. Mahindra has not only showed the exterior of the vehicle but also confirmed that the model will be named the Thar Roxx.

The images revealed by Mahindra today confirm the details we'd seen when the Thar 5-door was spied undisguised. The Thar Roxx lifestyle SUV will have a new double-stacked six slots, instead of the seven-slot design of the 3-door Thar. The circular headlamps remain, but it will get an LED projector setup with C-shaped DRLs.
It will be equipped with dual 10.25-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, LED lighting all around, diamond-cut alloy wheels and ADAS.
The Thar Roxx will get three engine options: a 1.5-litre diesel, a 2.2-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre petrol, with manual and automatic gearboxes to choose from. Just like the 3-door, the Roxx will also get rear-wheel-drive and 4WD.
Production of the Thar 5-door has commenced before its launch on August 15, and unofficial bookings have started at the dealer level. Upon arrival, the Thar 5-door will sit above the Thar 3-door in Mahindra’s portfolio. It will rival the Force Gurkha 5-door and the Maruti Jimny, and could be priced from around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. It will also compete with midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, among others.
