Mahindra Susten on Tuesday said it has commissioned 560 MWp of utility-scale solar power projects during calendar year 2025. The projects mark the first set of assets developed and commissioned by the company after it sold 1.54 GWp of operating assets to Sustainable Energy Infra Trust in 2024, as part of its capital-light strategy.
The newly commissioned capacity includes two solar projects of 280 MWp each, located in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Power from the Gujarat project is contracted to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, while the Rajasthan project supplies electricity to Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited under 25-year power purchase agreements.
Together, the two projects span nearly 2,000 acres and are connected to state grids through 220 kV substations. The installations use N-Type TOPCon bifacial solar modules, high-efficiency inverters and dry-cleaning systems. According to the company, the portfolio is expected to generate around 1,000 million units of electricity annually.
Project execution involved the use of about 12,400 tonnes of steel, 2,600 km of cabling and nearly one million solar modules. Construction activities recorded approximately 2.9 million safe man-hours, with a peak workforce of around 1,000 people.
Avinash Rao, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Susten, said the commissioning reflects the company’s execution capabilities in large-scale renewable projects and its focus on safety and quality. He added that Mahindra Susten plans to expand across solar, wind, storage, hybrid and group-captive projects.
The company said it is currently developing additional renewable energy projects in Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan and Karnataka. Its project pipeline includes utility-scale PPAs, hybrid wind-solar projects and group-captive open access assets.
Mahindra Susten, part of the Mahindra Group, has over 15 years of experience in renewable energy engineering and construction. The company operates as an independent power producer, with executed IPP capacity of 2.1 GWp and a development pipeline of around 3 GWp.
Mahindra Susten also said it continues to engage with local communities around its project sites through initiatives related to education, skills and health. Under its Gyandeep school redevelopment programme, the company has reached more than 2,200 beneficiaries to date.
