Mahindra Steps Up AI Adoption Across Businesses
Group plans to expand AI across customer journeys, manufacturing and enterprise systems, as it shifts from small experiments to large-scale deployment.
Mahindra Group plans to move artificial intelligence beyond small pilot projects and integrate the technology across its businesses, operations and customer-facing functions, Group CEO and Managing Director Anish Shah said.
“This is not a moment for incremental experimentation at the margins, but for meaningful integration at scale,” Shah said in his address to shareholders in the company’s FY26 annual report. “Across the Group, we are embedding AI into how we think, operate, and serve our customers.”
Shah described AI as one of the most important shifts affecting industries, business decisions and the nature of work. Mahindra’s approach would be to adopt the technology early and use it across the group rather than restrict it to isolated use cases.
“Those who move early and decisively will lead. We are determined to be among them,” Shah said.
Mahindra did not disclose its planned investment in AI or set a timeline for group-wide adoption. However, the annual report said AI had become a “core enterprise capability” rather than only a supporting technology.
AI to Support Manufacturing and Customer Service
Mahindra has organised its AI strategy around three areas: Experience.AI programme is aimed at delivering personalised and always-available customer engagement. Efficiency.AI focuses on manufacturing and operating productivity, while Enterprise.AI is intended to provide a common and secure intelligence layer across group businesses.
“AI is now embedded across customer journeys, manufacturing operations, and enterprise platforms,” the company said in the report.
The group said its digital and AI programmes must deliver measurable gains in customer experience, operating performance and business resilience. It also plans to govern the technology with a focus on security, scale and responsible use.
Auto and Farm Functions Turn More Digital
Mahindra’s Auto and Farm businesses are also expanding the use of data, automation and digital tools through Project Vihaan.
The programme connects new-product development, supply-chain operations, sales and service through a common digital system.
In product development, Mahindra is creating a digital link across planning, engineering, sourcing, manufacturing and service preparation. The company said this had improved coordination between teams and reduced development cycles.
Supply-chain planning is now fully digitised and can run live scenarios involving more than 200 constraints. The planning period has increased from one month to three months, while demand signals are collected directly from more than 300 dealers.
In after-sales service, digital tools including AutoLens, VehicleEye and VoxAI have been deployed across 430 workshops, covering more than 75% of the service load.
Mahindra said the systems had reduced appointment waiting times by 50%, lowered customer concerns linked to service quality by 39%, and improved productivity by as much as 15%.
AI Becomes Part of Global Growth Ambition
Mahindra’s AI push comes as the group sets a wider ambition to build global leadership across its businesses.
Shah said geopolitical shifts, rapid technological change, climate requirements and changing consumer expectations were reshaping industries.
The group would not slow its investments and transformation plans despite higher commodity, logistics and foreign-exchange costs, he said.
“Across our businesses, we are setting our sights on global leadership,” Shah said. “This marks a shift from strong performance to a more expansive ambition, one that demands we think bigger, act with conviction and move together as one organisation.”
In FY26, the group reported consolidated revenue of ₹1,98,639 crore, up 25% from the previous year. Consolidated profit after tax rose 32% to ₹17,099 crore. SUV volumes grew 20%, tractor sales crossed five lakh units and Mahindra retained a 40% share of the electric three-wheeler market.
