Mahindra September Sales Up 15% to 1.15 Lakh Units

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. reported total vehicle sales of 114,874 units for September 2026, including exports. That is up 15% from 100,298 units in September 2025 and up 6.7% from 107,648 units in August 2026.

The total covers SUVs, light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, three-wheelers and exports. Trucks and buses (above 3.5T) and tractors are reported separately.

Mahindra SUV Sales in September 2026

Domestic utility vehicle sales were 64,092 units, up 14% from 56,233 units a year earlier and up 8.2% from 59,257 units in August. Year-to-date sales for April to September stand at 358,142 units, up 20% from 297,570.

The company said it has crossed the milestone of 1 lakh billings of its Electric Origin SUVs since launch. The September 2025 base was constrained: that month's release said SUV billing was subdued because trailers were scarce in the last ten days of the month.

Mahindra Commercial Vehicle Sales: LCVs and Pickups

Domestic commercial vehicle sales were 30,420 units, up 14% from 26,728 units and up 11.0% from 27,415 units in August. Light commercial vehicles below 2T recorded 4,044 units, up 19% from 3,386 units and up 1.1% from 3,999 units in August.

LCVs in the 2 to 3.5T range registered 26,376 units, up 13% from 23,342 units and up 12.6% from 23,416 units in August. This segment includes the Bolero Maxx PUP HD 1.9 and HD 2.0.

Mahindra Three-Wheeler Sales, Including Electric

Three-wheeler sales, including electric three-wheelers sold through Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, were 16,343 units. That is up 26% from 13,017 units and up 9.5% from 14,922 units in August.

Mahindra Exports Decline in September

Exports were the one weak spot in the auto business. Shipments came in at 4,019 units, down 7% from 4,320 units a year earlier and down 33.6% from 6,054 units in August. The releases give no reason for the decline. Year-to-date exports are still up 48% at 30,031 units.

Mahindra Trucks and Buses Sales Up 53%

Combined sales of Mahindra Trucks & Buses (MTBD) and SML Mahindra Limited were 2,912 units, up 53% from 1,904 units. MTBD contributed 1,788 units, up 87% from 954 units. Its cargo vehicles reached 1,527 units (up 106%) and its passenger vehicles 261 units (up 23%).

SML Mahindra Sales Performance

SML Mahindra recorded 1,124 units, up 18% from 950 units, with cargo vehicles at 516 units (up 39%) and passenger vehicles at 608 units (up 5%). Across both companies, cargo vehicles totalled 2,043 units, up 84%, and passenger vehicles 869 units, up 10%.

Vinod Sahay, Executive Chairman of SML and President of Aerospace, Advanced Technologies, Trucks, Buses & CE at M&M, said that the month was helped by early festive buying, continued infrastructure activity and steady freight movement. He added that growth was aided by a lower prior-year base, when buying sentiment was weighed down by anticipated regulatory changes. He also said fuel and input cost pressures persist.

Mahindra Tractor Sales Fall 23% in September 2026

In the Farm Equipment Business, domestic tractor sales were 50,208 units, down 23% from 64,946 units. Total tractor sales, including exports, were 52,100 units, down 21% from 66,111 units. Exports rose 62% to 1,892 units from 1,165 units.

The company attributed the decline to the festive season starting in October this year rather than September. It also cited a higher September 2025 base, which benefited from the GST rate cut. Cumulative domestic tractor sales for the year to September are up 6% at 262,872 units.
