Mahindra Reports 14% Growth in June Auto Sales Driven by SUV Demand
The Indian automaker sold 78,969 vehicles last month with SUV sales climbing 18% to reach the company's highest quarterly performance.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. reported total auto sales of 78,969 vehicles in June 2025, representing a 14% increase compared to the same month last year. The Mumbai-based automaker attributed the growth primarily to strong demand in its utility vehicle segment.
The company sold 47,306 SUVs in the domestic market during June, marking an 18% increase from the previous year. Including exports, total utility vehicle sales reached 48,329 units. Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra's Automotive Division, said the quarter ended on a positive note and represented the highest quarterly performance for SUVs in company history.
Commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market totaled 20,575 units. Within this segment, performance varied across categories. Light commercial vehicles in the 2-3.5 ton range saw a 4% increase with 16,772 units sold, while smaller LCVs under 2 tons declined 20% to 2,576 units. Three-wheeler sales, including electric variants, grew 37% to 8,454 units.
The company's export business showed modest growth, with 2,634 vehicles shipped overseas in June, a 1% increase. However, year-to-date export figures demonstrated stronger momentum, rising 36% to 9,667 units compared to the same period last year.
For the first quarter of the financial year, Mahindra's utility vehicle sales reached 152,067 units, representing a 22% increase over the previous year. The figures include sales from subsidiary companies Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited and Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited.
