Mahindra launches XUV400 Pro range at Rs 15.49 lakh

Mahindra has launched the new XUV400 Pro range, with prices starting from Rs 15.49 lakh, going up to Rs 17.49 lakh for the new top-spec EL Pro variant. The prices are introductory and are applicable to deliveries until May 31, 2024. Bookings for the XUV400 Pro range begin tomorrow at 2pm, for an amount of Rs 21,000. Deliveries are slated to begin from February 1.

The biggest talking points are updates to the dashboard and new features, however, it remains mechanically unchanged and does not get major styling updates either. The new Pro range will be sold alongside the outgoing trims for as long as stocks last for the latter. Mahindra has also introduced a Nebula Blue colour on the XUV400.

Here's a detailed look at the prices of the new Pro range.

Mahindra XUV400 Pro: new interior and features

The primary update to the XUV400 is the new 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, but it has necessitated a major redesign of the dashboard. The AC vents now underline the new touchscreen instead of flanking it on the sides as in the outgoing model. The HVAC panel is also completely new – it now gets two rotary dials instead of a large central one, and there's a new digital MID in between along with revised switchgear.

Furthermore, the all-black interior has made way for a new black-and-beige dual-tone theme; there’s a new gloss black garnish for the passenger side of the dashboard, but the subtle copper accents have been retained as is. The steering wheel is also a new flat-bottom unit, and while the instrument binnacle is the same as before, there’s an all-new 10.25-inch digital screen replacing the analogue dials.

Both new screens on the updated XUV400 Pro now run the Adrenox software that we have seen on the XUV700, so overall functionality will be a huge step up from the previously available (and dated) 7.0-inch infotainment interface. Other feature additions include dual-zone climate control with a memory function, a wireless phone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa connectivity, rear USB ports as well as rear AC vents; the last feature had been sorely missed in the XUV400's equipment list.

These updates do close the gap to the new Nexon EV, but the Tata is still better equipped with features like ventilated front seats, a powered tailgate, 360-degree cameras, full-width LED light bands and an even larger infotainment screen on the top-spec variant.

Mahindra XUV400 EV remains mechanically unchanged

As mentioned, there are no updates on the mechanical front. Both the EC Pro and the EL Pro get the 34.5kWh battery, while the latter is also available with the larger 39.4kWh battery. The EC Pro only gets a 3.3kW AC charger, while the EL Pro gets the faster 7.2kW AC charger for both battery options. The former battery has a claimed range of 375km and the latter has a claimed range of 456km, both on the MIDC cycle.

Both variants of the XUV400 Pro are powered by a front axle-mounted electric motor that produces 150hp and 310Nm of torque. It also continues with disc brakes for all four wheels, regenerative braking and three drive modes.
