Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited has launched the UDO, an electric three-wheeler auto-rickshaw priced at an introductory rate of ₹3,58,999, down from its standard ex-showroom price of ₹3,84,299.
The company, which positions itself as India's number one electric commercial vehicle manufacturer according to Vahan data, designed the vehicle with an airplane-inspired aesthetic. The name "UDO" derives from the Hindi word meaning "to fly."
The electric auto-rickshaw features a monocoque construction and offers a real-world driving range of 200 kilometers, powered by an IP67-rated 11.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The vehicle's motor delivers 10 kW of peak power and 52 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 55 km/h in its Race mode.
Design elements include what the company describes as a pilot seat for drivers, which is approximately 20 percent thicker than competing vehicles, and enhanced passenger seating with additional legroom and headroom. The vehicle incorporates independent rear suspension and dual fork front suspension systems.
The UDO includes three driving modes—Range, Ride, and Race—allowing drivers to prioritize either efficiency or performance. Additional features include reverse throttle, regenerative braking, hill hold assist, and a creep function for traffic management.
Mahindra backs the vehicle with a warranty of 150,000 kilometers or six years, whichever comes first, and offers free servicing until 100,000 kilometers. Purchasers are enrolled in the company's UDAY NXT scheme, which provides ₹20 lakh accidental insurance coverage, along with financial counseling services.
The vehicle is manufactured at Mahindra's facility in Zaheerabad, which the company says has been upgraded with automated battery assembly and robotized production lines.
Suman Mishra, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, stated the launch represents the company's objective to improve customer lives through electrification of last-mile transportation while elevating industry standards for the category.
The UDO enters a market where India represents the largest three-wheeler electric vehicle segment globally. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, manufactures various electric and conventional fuel three and four-wheeler vehicles for passenger and cargo applications.
